Griffin Happenings
Lots going on in our community and we thought we'd share a few upcoming events with you. One of which is the 'Touch a Truck' event. Griffin's service men and women will be out with their vehicles allowing your children the opportunity to check them out. What kid doesn't like to get up close and personal with a police car or firetruck?! The event is open to the public, and it's a great opportunity to get to know and thank your service members for all they do to keep our community a great place to live!
The Annual Great Griffin Mayfling Arts and Crafts Festival, held the last weekend in April, is sponsored by the Griffin/Spalding Chamber of Commerce. The event attracts a variety of quality artists and craftsmen to display and sell their goods. Top local entertainment is ongoing during the two-day event held in the shady surroundings of Griffin’s City Park. Local clubs and organizations take advantage of the Festival to raise funds that are channeled back into the community for charitable programs and projects. The festival is for everyone, children enjoy games and activities, and friends and families enjoy good food and renew and establish friendships in a relaxed atmosphere. The festival has added a few new 'attractions' this year: Amateur Dog Competition-- Bring your leashed pooches with you. Prizes awarded in multiple categories. Youth Singing Competition--Two age groups: 5th-8th grade (begins at 10:30am Saturday) and 9th-12th grade (begins at 2:30pm Saturday). Griffin Lions Club “Strides for Sight” 5K Race starts 9am on Saturday April 25th. A portion of the race proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society. We believe that being involved in the community makes it a better place to live. Make a difference and show some community support. If you aren't a local of Griffin we would love to have you enjoy the fun with us! :) ~Curry's
